Description:

  • Design-build renovations to approximately 18,000 sq. ft. of a two-story historic structure occupied by three Navy Commands: Regional Legal Services Office (RLSO), Navy Legal Services Office (NLSO), and Personnel Support Activity Detachment Department (PSD).

  • Primary purpose was to establish a physical separation of spaces between judicial and non-judicial activities.

  • Existing legal office and administrative spaces were reconfigured and a 3-panel court martial hearing room and judge’s chambers were constructed.

  • ADA‐compliant entrance upgrades were performed while preserving historic features of the building’s exterior. Required approval from the State Office of Historic Preservation.

  • Incorporated a 9-phase strategy. Continued access and operational integrity of adjacent courtroom was required while project construction was underway.

  • Removed, reconfigured, and painted existing interior walls; installed controlled access points; repaired flooring, ceiling, doors, and windows; repaired MEP and lighting systems; and reconfigured the fire sprinkler system.

  • DDCs met the stringent requirements of NAVFAC’s Area-Wide Energy Management System (AWEMS) Specifications.
