Description: The purpose of this project was to construct additional kennel space to safely handle up to 28 additional Military Working Dogs (MWDs) from their existing facility’s accommodations for 48 MWDs. Key features:

  • Closely coordinated with the MWD Platoon to ensure the existing, adjacent kennel facility operations continued without interruption during construction.

  • Constructed a pre-engineered, open-sided, 160’ x 38’ metal structure and extended underground electrical, water, and sewer to the new building.

  • Includes two 10’ x 13’ food storage/veterinary exam rooms complete with epoxy coated floors and walls, plumbing fixtures, electrical fixtures and outlets, piping, and drains.

  • Concrete pad carefully sloped for proper drainage. Includes 6” drain lines, oversized removable drain covers, and backwater valves to provide proper drainage with minimal maintenance.

  • Includes pressure washing system with five automatic hose reels and a low-flow, high-pressure spray lance/gun for cleaning the kennel runs.

  • Installed a 4-ft-high masonry screen wall along the length of both sides of the building and an 8-ft-high perimeter fence.
